The Item will make bank if they can sell this last newsstand copy
Profitability is $2.50 and one three-year old issue away.
A rare and endangered species was observed recently in Walker County: an actual physical newspaper for sale at a newsstand. The sighting of the Huntsville Item last August in Riverside is believed to be last of its type in the wild.
The copy sells for $2.50, the same price as in 2022, when it was published. Hey, at least something's not subject to inflation! Thanks, Joe Biden!
Next to it, keeping it company, is the Walker County Press, a free paper which at least has the integrity to publish a picture of an actual person who is an alleged villain, unlike CERTAIN WEB SITES that use cartoon drawings instead.

Featured in this July 16-17, 2022 edition of the Item is a new coaching addition at Sam Houston State University: Sonia Curvelo, hired that summer to lead the Women's Soccer Team.
Over three seasons, Curvelo compiled a record of 17 wins, 25 losses, and 9 ties (that many ties? – yes, that's soccer for you), before departing earlier this year to become the head coach at San Jose State University in California.

"News is timeless," some will say. However, the color brown – prevalent on the pages of this particular copy – begs to disagree. Officials fear the front page will get so dark as to be unreadable before 2027, when this copy is expected to sell. By then, it is anticipated that Sonia Curvelo will have compiled a losing record at San Jose State University and been hired back at SHSU at a higher salary.
