He had one job
It's just so mortifying. He had one job!
“A little more to the right,” they said. And he listened! Why? Whyeeeee??? Couldn't he hear their giggles? Why did he pay them any attention at all?
And then they said it again! “More to the right.” At least he didn't just obey this time. He spoke up. He raised objections. “It...kinda seems fine to me,” he said.
But it didn't work. “Oh no,” they replied (with what seemed like a smirk). “It needs to go more to the right.”
He liked to be the nice guy. Cooperative, go along to get along, you know. And they took advantage of it and now it's all his fault. He had one job!
It's just so mortifying.
Not the first time
What's even more appalling is it's not even the first time. There was that job over on University and Bearkat.
That time he had never even doubted them. “You sure?” he kept saying. “Oh yeah,” they would respond. “A little more to the right.” And look at what he'd done.

That time he had to talk to human resources and everything. What would happen now? Could his job be in danger?? It would be all kinds of terrible if he lost it. Painting crosswalks was all he had ever wanted to do!
He had trusted them. Again. Why? Whyeeeee???
It's just so mortifying. He had one job.
